"I feel like a lot of people have this impression that you have to spend your twenties fucking up and spending your time on people you don’t care about and making weird gambles with your heart just to have stories to tell, and I can’t relate to that. I can’t deal with that mentality. So if I’m single for a long time, I’m single for a long time. But fuck, man. I want to be honored to be in the room with a dude, ya know? I want to feel privileged to have that person laugh at my joke and poke holes in my arguments and spend their weekend afternoon with me, and if that means lamping and spending time with my friends and getting really good at being my best self, then fine. Fuck it. At the end of the day I’d rather have done a really good job at that than at taking a million desperate swings at shitty pitches just because the thought of being alone terrifies me so much."

Oh my god. ‘men will actually respect women more if they see women showing compassion to them’. If you want women to show you compassion, don’t fucking rape them.

If you need me I’ll be in the angry-dome.

“carried away. ” oh.

“…if they see women showing compassion to them and realising they are better off without a conviction…He urged victims not to view light sentences as their attackers getting away with it.”

Quote
"With just enough exceptions to prove the rule, men have taken almost no responsibility for patriarchy. Some men confuse taking responsibility with being sensitive to women, offering emotional support, or tolerating women’s anger and frustration. Men can be sensitive, however, without doing anything to challenge or undermine male privilege or to define gender issues as men’s issues, especially to other men. Even sensitive men can be drawn to the path of least resistance that defines problems such as housework, workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, and violence as women’s issues. This makes it easy for men to see themselves as “good guys”-loving helpers, loyal supporters, or valiant defenders who help women in a patient and caring way.

What such men often don’t do is the work of taking the initiative to decide what needs to be said, asked, listened to, discussed, fought over, attended to, and cared for in order to overcome the status quo’s foot-dragging inertia. When women get tired or confused or distracted by the everyday details of their lives, the responsibility these men take often lies dormant until the next time a woman feels compelled to risk making trouble by raising a “women’s issue.” And when women express anger at always having to carry the burden of figuring out patriarchy and doing something about it, these sensitive and supportive men may react as if they’re being unfairly criticized or even attacked, their exceptional and seemingly generous efforts unappreciated, their supposed immunity from reproach unfairly snatched away."

“it’s just my opinion”

well you have a shitty opinion

and you’re a shitty person for having it

and don’t even bother replying to this with bullshit like “HAVING A BAD OPINION DOESN’T MAKE YOU A BAD PERSON”

yes it does

“all black people should die” is a bad opinion, and you are a shitty racist person for having it, and you deserve all the bad things in life.

“i get to decide the validity of someone’s identity” is a shitty opinion, and you are a shitty bigoted person for having it, and you deserve all the bad things in life.

see where i’m going with this

if you have a shitty opinion, saying “it’s just my opinion” doesn’t magically shield you from backlash

if you say shitty things based around that shitty opinion, of course people are going to think you’re a piece of shit human being.

and they’d be absolutely right, because you are.

Avengers #6

Someone should write a post about Captain Universe, Tamara Devoux and how her character is related to memory, motherhood, pain, agency, black women, and power.

there are many feels I have on Tamar Devoux but I need to know more about her character irst

as of right now, I love that they made a black woman the living embodiment of the universe
